Caring for your knife
Our knives are crafted from high carbon steel—chosen for its proven performance and great edge retention. This material can corrode if not properly maintained, but keeping it in great shape is simple with a few easy steps after each use.
We recommend washing your knife with cold water and wiping down the blade with a dry towel after use, avoiding prolonged contact with water, and applying a light coat of food-safe oil before storage. Over time, your blade will naturally develop a patina—an organic layer of color and texture that helps protects against corrosion and serves as your unique culinary fingerprint. We highly advocate against putting your Black Stork Mfg. Co. knife in any type of dishwasher as this will dull your edge faster and has a potential to rust your knife and damage the handle material.
To maintain the edge, regularly strop the knife on leather or use a ceramic honing rod. For longevity, we suggest using your knife on soft wooden or bamboo cutting boards instead of plastic or synthetic surfaces.
If your blade ever gets dull or damaged simply send it in for repair. The sharpening fee is a fixed 30 euros and shipping fee. Should the knife have additional damage, you will be invoiced a quota before the restoration or repairs are started. You can send your knives to:
